Quite recently, I discovered sesame oil. I’m not sure what took me so long to finally buy it, but I’m so glad I did. Sesame oil is a dark brown color, and has a very intense and nutty flavor, and you only need a tiny bit to impart a ton of flavor. It works extremely well with seafood, which I will be sharing an example of next week, and is used in many Asian dishes.
Skinnytaste is one of my go-to cooking blogs. Gina knows how to create the tastiest (light) dishes, and I was extremely happy with how these turkey meatballs turned out! The dipping sauce is divine too. Each leans on the Asian flavors of ginger, garlic, soy and of course, sesame oil.
Preheat the oven to 500 degrees.
In a medium bowl, add in all ingredients for turkey meatballs. Mix together with your hands, taking care to be very gentle with the mixture.
Shape mixture into 2 tablespoon size meatballs.
Place onto a baking sheet that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
Bake until cooked through, about 11-13 minutes.
For the dipping sauce, simply mix together all ingredients until combined.
Garnish the meatballs with some chopped scallion and sesame seeds and serve immediately with dipping sauce.
Note – I served these appetizer style, with toothpicks, but you could certainly make some brown rice or zucchini noodles, pour the sauce on the top, and have a complete (and delicious) meal.
